Kicker reports that Bayer Leverkusen are weighing up three candidates to cover injured Mark Flekken, with Man City's Stefan Ortega under consideration.

While deputy Janis Blaswich is trusted to take over, sporting chief Simon Rolfes has hinted the club might act in the market.

Ortega is on their list after links last summer as a successor to Lukas Hradecky. The Sky Blues' third-choice keeper is reportedly available on a free this winter, an appealing option.

Because of the local player rule, Ortega would not occupy a Champions League slot reserved for foreign players.

If that move does not materialise, alternatives named include Ortega's team-mate James Trafford and Chelsea's Filip Jörgensen. Both need minutes before the 2026 World Cup this summer, so loans are conceivable.
