The Gunners went into the Broadfield Stadium clash knowing that only a win would prevent Manchester City from getting their hands on the trophy. Arsenal were only able to play out a 1-1 draw in Sussex as Brighton & Hove Albion continued their impressive form against the league’s top sides.
Brighton & Hove Albion recently defeated Arsenal in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup while they beat Manchester City and drew with Manchester United. With The Seagulls full of confidence, they were able to net the first goal against Arsenal this evening through a deflected Fuka Tsunoda effort. The Gunners responded through Frida Maanum just after the hour but they were unable to find the all important second goal which would have kept their title dreams alive.
Tonight’s result means that league leaders Manchester City cannot be caught. Andrée Jeglertz’s side have been crowned champions for the first time since 2016 without kicking a ball. The Cityzens are expected to receive the Barclays Women’s Super League trophy after their final match of the season at West Ham United on Saturday 16 May 2026.
Manchester City are in Adobe Women’s FA Cup semi-final action this weekend as they travel to Chelsea.
