Premier League champions Manchester City have been named as a surprise contender for the signature of Juventus striker, Dusan Vlahovic.

The latest transfer rumours come despite Manchester City remaining highly content with their existing options in the striker position, regardless of the exit of Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid in the summer market.

The 24-year-old Argentine international went in search of greater opportunities in the lead striker role, having often supported Erling Haaland at the Etihad Stadium and operated from an attacking midfield position.

Manchester City turned down the chance of signing a supporting striker for Haaland at the end of the summer window, despite links to the likes of Celtic’s Kyogo Furuhashi, and now-Real Sociedad forward, Orri Óskarsson.

But ahead of the reopening of the transfer window in January, and the 2025 summer market even further down the line, a new striker name has attracted Manchester City’s attention, according to claims from Italy.

According to the information of TuttoJuve, Manchester City like Juventus’ 24-year-old striker Dusan Vlahovic, with the Serie A star currently contracted at the Turin club until the summer of 2026.

As translated and relayed by Sport Witness, Juventus are continuing to work on extending the Serbia international’s deal, and as such it is suggested that both Manchester City and Atlético Madrid are keeping close tabs on his situation.

Should the two parties fail to agree on a new contract, the report claims the striker will be made available in the summer of 2025, when both of the aforementioned clubs could make an approach as they would ‘like to open’ their doors for the player at an ‘affordable price’.

For now, it would seem as though Manchester City’s profile and availability in the striker position may just be being used by the player’s representatives to get the best deal possible out of Juventus.

City will however have the opportunity to assess the performance of the Serbian up close and personal in the UEFA Champions League this season, as they travel to face the Old Lady on December 11 in the league phase of the competition.

Manchester City got their first three points on the board in Europe earlier this week as they dismissed of Slovan Bratislava with ease in Slovakia, as goals from Ilkay Gundogan, Phil Foden, Erling Haaland, and James McAtee recorded a 0-4 win.
