Manchester United have been handed a timely boost before Leeds United’s visit, with Lisandro Martinez back in full training. Manchester World reports that the centre-back worked with the first team during Tuesday’s open session in Dublin and, barring setbacks, is set to be available at Old Trafford.
United have had three weeks without a game while at a training camp in Dublin. Leeds returned from the international break on Sunday, beating West Ham 4-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw to reach the FA Cup semi-finals.
Martinez has missed United’s last five matches with a calf problem. Signed from Ajax for £56.7million in 2022, he was initially expected to be out for a week or two, yet has now been sidelined for six weeks and missed Argentina’s March fixtures.
Michael Carrick will be without Harry Maguire against Leeds after the defender’s straight red card at Bournemouth, which brings an automatic one-match ban. Martinez could start alongside Leny Yoro, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin likely to provide a physical test after scoring two penalties in normal time and the shootout on Sunday.
Patrick Dorgu did not join group training during the open session, continuing his rehabilitation instead. The wing-back has missed eight games with a hamstring injury and has no timeline for a return.
Forwards Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo both missed international duty with Slovenia and Cameroon respectively, but are in Dublin and expected to be fit for Leeds. Centre-back Matthijs De Ligt did not travel due to a back injury that has kept him out since November.
Leeds are monitoring Anton Stach, who limped off at West Ham with a suspected ankle ligament issue, and Joe Rodon after an awkward fall. Gabriel Gudmundsson was not risked, while Daniel James is expected to miss out with an adductor strain.
