TEAMtalk reports that Manchester United have no intention of letting Amad Diallo leave this summer amid potential Sunderland interest, with insiders said to have laughed off suggestions he could depart and to still view him as central to long-term plans, particularly after his role changed following Michael Carrick's arrival at Old Trafford.
The 23-year-old remains hugely popular on Wearside after an outstanding loan in 2022-23 under Tony Mowbray in the Championship.
He scored 14 goals and provided four assists across all competitions that season, finishing as Sunderland’s top scorer. He also produced a stunning free-kick against Luton Town in the play-off semi-final.
His bond with the club has endured. During United’s visit to the Stadium of Light he received a warm reception, a Roker End banner reading 'Welcome home, Amad', and a standing ovation when he was substituted.
That affection, coupled with Sunderland’s return to the Premier League, has inevitably prompted talk of another move. Diallo is contracted to United until June 2030 after signing a new deal in January 2025, with an option for a further year.
