Manchester United are not planning to let Amad Diallo leave this summer, despite talk of Sunderland interest, with TEAMtalk reporting club insiders have dismissed the idea.
Diallo, 23, remains hugely popular on Wearside after an outstanding 2022-23 loan in the Championship under Tony Mowbray.
He scored 14 goals and registered four assists across all competitions, finishing as Sunderland’s top scorer and delivering a stunning free-kick against Luton Town in the play-off semi-final.
The bond has endured. During United’s recent visit to the Stadium of Light he was warmly received, a Roker End banner read “Welcome home, Amad”, and he was applauded off with a standing ovation when substituted.
That affection, combined with Sunderland’s Premier League return, has inevitably led to suggestions the Black Cats could explore another move.
The report also says United still view the winger as central to their long-term plans, particularly after his role changed following Michael Carrick’s arrival at Old Trafford. Diallo signed a new contract in January 2025 running to June 2030, with an option of a further year.
