Manchester United will be desperate to get their season back on track on Saturday when they host high-flying Sunderland at Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim’s side are struggling in 14th place, while the newly-promoted Black Cats have made a remarkable start and sit fifth in the table.
Ruben Amorim is handed a major boost with the return of influential midfielder Casemiro from suspension. Winger Amad is also available again after compassionate leave. However, the defence remains depleted with Lisandro Martínez and Noussair Mazraoui still sidelined through injury.
The visitors have several defensive concerns, with Dennis Cirkin, Leo Hjelde, and Aji Alese all injured, Reinildo suspended, and Winger Romaine Mundle also out. However, they are boosted by the availability of Nordi Mukiele and Luke O’Nien.
United are in poor form, having won just two of their opening six league games and coming off a damaging 3-1 defeat at Brentford. Their defence has been a major concern, having yet to keep a clean sheet this season. However, they have an incredible record against promoted sides, and are unbeaten in their last 24 such games.
Sunderland have made the best start by a newly-promoted side since 2012-13, collecting 11 points from six games. They are well-organised and defensively solid. However, they face a trip to Old Trafford, a ground where they have won just once in their last 31 visits in all competitions.
Manchester United predicted XI: Bayındır; Yoro, De Ligt, Shaw; Dalot, Casemiro, Fernandes, Dorgu; Mbeumo, Šeško, Cunha.
Sunderland predicted XI: Roefs; Mukiele, Geertruida, Alderete, Masuaku; Xhaka, Sadiki; Traore, Talbi, Adingra; Isidor.
The match will not be broadcast live in the UK due to the 3:00 pm blackout.
