A significant Saturday at Old Trafford beckons as Manchester United host Tottenham Hotspur for the early kick-off.
This match carries immense weight for supporters as it marks the club’s closest home game to the 68th anniversary of the Munich Air Disaster. On the pitch, the “Michael Carrick effect” has transformed United into the only Premier League side yet to lose in 2026. Carrick aims for a fourth consecutive victory following dramatic wins over Manchester City, Arsenal, and Fulham.
Conversely, a struggling Tottenham side seeks to build on a spirited 2–2 draw with Manchester City. Dominic Solanke rescued that point with a sensational scorpion-kick equaliser after Spurs trailed by two goals at the break.
Michael Carrick expects Mason Mount to return to the squad soon, though this weekend may be premature for a full start. Matthijs de Ligt (back) remains sidelined despite taking “good steps” in his recovery. The Red Devils are also without Patrick Dorgu, who faces a 10-week layoff with a hamstring injury. Carrick may start Benjamin Šeško following his 94th-minute winner against Fulham.
Thomas Frank welcomes back a vital trio: Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, and Dominic Solanke are all available. However, the injury list remains extensive, with James Maddison, Mohammed Kudus, and Richarlison still unavailable. Pedro Porro and Rodrigo Bentancur also remain in the treatment room. Djed Spence is considered “touch and go” with a calf problem.
United are the division’s form team, accumulating nine points from their last three matches. Notably, the Red Devils are unbeaten in all nine league games this season when having less possession than their opponent. Captain Bruno Fernandes leads the league with 12 assists and is one away from a personal season record. Recent results include a 2–0 win over City and a 3–2 victory at Arsenal.
Spurs arrive sitting 14th in the table, just 10 points clear of the relegation zone. Notably, the North Londoners have a strong recent record at Old Trafford, having not lost any of the last eight meetings between the sides. Five of Tottenham’s seven Premier League wins this season have come away from home. However, defensive frailties persist; only Burnley and Wolves have conceded more first-half goals than Spurs this term.
Manchester United Predicted XI: Lammens; Dalot, Maguire, Martínez, Shaw; Casemiro, Mainoo; Amad, Fernandes, Cunha; Mbeumo
Tottenham Hotspur Predicted XI: Vicario; Palhinha, Romero, Van de Ven; Spence, Gray, Gallagher, Udogie; Odobert, Solanke, Simons
The match will be broadcast live in the UK on TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate. Coverage begins at 11:00 GMT ahead of the 12:30 kick-off.
