Manchester United are keeping tabs on Santos attacking midfielder Robinho Junior ahead of the January transfer window, according to United insider Sully.

Man United want to bolster their attacking options for the second half of the season at the Old Trafford club as manager Ruben Amorim eyes a top-six finish.

The Red Devils could be without both Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo for some games in January if their respective countries reach the knockout stages of the Africa Cup of Nations starting next month.

Man United will miss the influence of two of their key attackers if that happens and could do with a player like Robinho Jr in their absence.

The 17-year-old has a release clause of €100 million but is expected to be available for less.

Santos will be open to selling one of their best players, especially if they get relegated, and Man United are monitoring his situation.

He has played 13 games in the Brazilian top-flight this season, weighing in with one assist.

Robinho Jr primarily plays as a right winger and is highly talented, but whether he can hit the ground running in a very physical and fast league like the English top-flight remains to be seen.

The likes of Inter Milan, Espanyol, Galatasaray and Chelsea are also monitoring the Brazilian.

He has been compared to his father, and Man United will be getting a serious player if he can prove to be as talented as the former Real Madrid star.

Robinho joined Manchester City in 2008 thinking he was set to join Man United, and his son could now make the move his father once thought he was making.

Robinho Jr will likely start his Red Devils’ career in their youth ranks should a move happen in January, and the fans will be expecting the club to sign one or two players capable of making instant impacts.
