Manor Solomon has joined Villarreal on season-long loan after sealing a move from Tottenham late on Deadline Day.

The winger had looked set to join Crystal Palace, with the Eagles and Spurs submitting a deal sheet to continue work on the loan beyond the 7pm deadline day.

However, that deal collapsed and Spanish clubs then had the chance to seize the initiative, as the LaLiga deadline fell later at 11pm.

Spurs remained keen to find a move for Solomon and Villarreal's interest materialised into serious talks.

An agreement was reached late on Monday night for a straight loan with no option or obligation for the Spanish club to buy the 26-year-old next summer.

It is believed that Villarreal will cover Solomon's salary for the duration of the loan deal.

Solomon returned to the Spurs squad for the first time in two years when he was named on the bench against Bournemouth on Saturday.

The winger spent last season on loan at Leeds and scored ten goals in the Championship, playing a key role in the club's promotion to the Premier League.

His move to Villarreal was the second deal Spurs reached with a Spanish club on Deadline Day.

Bryan Gil's four-year spell at Spurs came to an end as he joined Girona in a permanent deal worth around £8.6million.

Gil said: "It’s been four years since I first joined the club. Today our paths go different ways after a long time together, and I didn’t want to leave without saying thanks for everything I've learnt and for having the chance to be part of this club.

"I wish you and will always wish you all the best."

As expected, Yves Bissouma did not leave the club on Deadline Day.

The midfielder, who is out contract at Spurs next summer, is currently injured and has not featured since he was dropped for the UEFA Super Cup due to repeatedly being late.

Spurs are keen to sell Bissouma and a move to Turkey has been explored, with talks taking place with Galatasaray over a loan with an obligation to buy.

While no final agreement was reached with a club on Monday, Turkish sides have until September 12 to complete their transfer business and Bissouma could therefore still leave the club in the next couple of weeks.
