Leeds continue their US tour against Sunderland as transfer work intensifies, with a club-record £40m move for James Trafford progressing to become their third summer signing. Free agent Harry Wilson has already featured in pre-season and £34m defender Tarik Muharemovic could follow.
Former loan hero Manor Solomon, whose added-time strike at Plymouth sealed last season’s Championship title, is keen on a permanent Tottenham exit, the Daily Mail reports. West Ham, relegated last season, are interested and he could, as at Elland Road, replace the departing Crysencio Summerville.
Solomon joined Leeds on loan in summer 2024 after Summerville’s £28m move to the Hammers, returning 10 goals and 13 assists. Loans at Villarreal and Fiorentina were underwhelming and Leeds passed on a reunion for 2025/26.
He has played in three pre-season games under new manager Roberto De Zerbi, but is seeking a settled home away from North London. Spurs are expected to consider a sale to recoup funds after a busy summer.
Ipswich have signed Royale Union Saint-Gilloise goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen on a four-year deal worth around £11m. The six ft nine ins Dutch Under-21 international kept 21 clean sheets in 43 appearances last season.
Jordan Henderson has left Brentford by mutual consent amid interest from Chelsea. The 36-year-old’s two-year contract has been cut short after 12 months, and if he signs at Stamford Bridge he would join Danny Welbeck, whose move from Brighton is all but confirmed.
