L'Équipe reports that Julian Nagelsmann has named a 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup and recalled Manuel Neuer, bringing the 40-year-old out of international retirement for a fifth finals.

Neuer stepped away from Germany duty after Euro 2024, when the hosts went out in the quarter-finals to eventual champions Spain. He has just signed a one-year extension with Bayern Munich, running to 2027.

He should reclaim the number one shirt from Oliver Baumann, 35, who has started in recent months. Baumann is named in the squad alongside Alexander Nübel.

Jamal Musiala returns to the national team for the first time in more than a year. The forward suffered a serious injury against PSG at the Club World Cup last July and was not selected for the March friendlies.

Nagelsmann’s group also includes Joshua Kimmich, Antonio Rüdiger, Jonathan Tah, David Raum, Nico Schlotterbeck, Malick Thiaw, Leon Goretzka, Pascal Gross, Aleksandar Pavlovic, Nadiem Amiri, Felix Nmecha, Angelo Stiller, Kai Havertz, Leroy Sané, Florian Wirtz, Maximilian Beier, Deniz Undav, Jamie Leweling and Nick Woltemade.
