Marcelo Paz has backed Dorival Júnior to stay at Corinthians after the 1-1 draw with Flamengo, leaving seven without a win. He said that, on his part, the coach remains in post after the international break.
"At the moment our results are fluctuating, that is a fact. All of that has an impact, but we need patience," he told Rádio Coringão.
"He is a winning coach, a champion, with a history in Brazilian football and well accepted by the players. We need to support him now and strengthen the work, because I believe the long term makes the difference. On my part, there is no movement to change, I can guarantee that."
Yuri Alberto missed more than a month from February to March with a grade 2 left hamstring injury. Jesse Lingard, unveiled in early March, is still not on the CBF’s BID as he awaits a work visa. Kaio César has thigh issues and has featured only three times since February.
Corinthians have not won since 19 February 2026, a 1-0 at Athletico-PR through Rodrigo Garro. Since then they have five draws and two defeats, including 1-0 to Novorizontino in the Paulistão semi-finals. In the league they have fallen from third to 11th.
Corinthians return on the first of April after the FIFA window, giving nine days to prepare for Fluminense at the Maracanã. Hugo Souza and André Carrillo are on international duty, and Memphis Depay felt quadriceps pain and could be withdrawn from the Netherlands squad.
