Mario Götze has extended his Eintracht Frankfurt contract until 2028, the club said in a statement on Wednesday.
The 33-year-old had been due to see his deal expire this summer and has now agreed a two-year extension.
Sporting director Markus Krösche hailed him as a key player and personality, highlighting a career of highs and lows and the experience he shares with younger team-mates.
Götze cited his love for football and for Eintracht as the reason to commit, accepted there are challenges to overcome, and underlined that the squad are ready to face them.
He also looked ahead cautiously, suggesting another cup triumph might be possible in the near future and would be very welcome. The 2014 World Cup winner joined from PSV Eindhoven in summer 2022 for three million euros. He has made 148 appearances for Eintracht, scoring 12 goals and supplying 18 assists.
