In an official statement, Olympique de Marseille have confirmed that they intend to return to Rome for a mid-season training camp. Les Olympiens jetted off to the Italian capital last season, towards the end of the season, at the request of their manager, Roberto De Zerbi.
Following Le Classique against Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday night, OM will make the short journey to Rome on Monday. The Ligue 1 club will remain in Italy for several days before their next match against Strasbourg on Friday, 26th September. The decision is described as a harmonious one which has been agreed upon by the former Brighton manager and the higher-ups at the Stade Vélodrome.
Les Phocéens describe last season’s two-week-long training camp in Rome as “successful”. Following this sentiment and the “unanimously positive” verdict of the players that took part in the training camp, Marseille have taken the decision to return.
