Matheus Pereira limped off with pain in the back of his left thigh during Corinthians' 1-0 win over Athletico Paranaense tonight, putting his immediate involvement in doubt.
The problem surfaced on 29 minutes of the second half and he was promptly replaced by André Ramalho, forcing a switch to three centre-backs. According to Meu Timao, he will undergo tests on Friday.
Wearing the number 23, Pereira has alternated between starts and the bench at the start of the season and has earned the trust of head coach Dorival Júnior. A potential injury places his run under threat.
The treatment room already includes left-back Hugo Farias, who is recovering from surgery on the meniscus in his right knee. Forwards Kaio César, dealing with a right posterior thigh issue, and Yuri Alberto, diagnosed with a grade 2 injury to the left biceps femoris, are also sidelined. Breno Bidon, the number 7, has begun his transition back.
With Pereira's availability uncertain, Corinthians now switch focus to the Paulistão. They face Portuguesa in the Campeonato Paulista quarter-finals at 20:30 at Estádio do Canindé.
