Matteo Cancellieri ‘close to joining’ Fiorentina amid Lazio reshuffle | OneFootball

Lazio winger Matteo Cancellieri is expected to leave this summer, with Fiorentina emerging as a possible destination.

Il Messaggero reports that incoming coach Gennaro Gattuso is an admirer of Gustav Isaksen, who is expected to start regularly, and that Cancellieri is close to joining Fiorentina, where he could link up with Fabio Grosso, expected to replace Paolo Vanoli.

The 24-year-old came through Roma’s academy, impressed at Hellas Verona, then joined Lazio in 2022 for around €10 million.

He struggled in his first campaign under Maurizio Sarri, spent the next two seasons on loan at Empoli and Parma, then returned in 2025 after an eye-catching pre-season aided by the club’s transfer ban.

This season he contested the right flank with Isaksen when both were fit, making 35 appearances in all competitions with four goals and two assists, though his form was inconsistent. The report has not yet been corroborated elsewhere, so developments may follow in the coming days and weeks.
