The Hoops begin with a Saturday visit to West Lothian to face Livingston, before quickly turning their attention to a midweek trip to Motherwell. It marks a defining period for Wilfried Nancy as he looks to build momentum and credibility following last weekend’s 3-1 victory over Aberdeen at Celtic Park.

For the encounter at the Home of the Set Fare Arena, the Scottish FA has confirmed that Matthew MacDermid will oversee proceedings, supported on the lines by Frank Connor and Dougie Potter. VAR will be handled by Nick Walsh, with Graeme Leslie on AVAR.

There is little breathing space before Nancy’s side are back in action three days later at Fir Park, where they face an in form Well side.

Kevin Clancy has been appointed by the Scottish FA as the referee in Lanarkshire, aided by Calum Spence and Douglas Ross. VAR duties have been assigned to Andrew Dallas, with Gary Hilland on AVAR.

Saturday’s clash offers Celtic the chance to secure successive domestic victories for the first time under Nancy. However, Livingston – despite sitting bottom of the table and having not won a game in the league since August 9 – have a reputation for making life uncomfortable for Celtic.

The subsequent test against Motherwell will prove even tougher. Currently third in the Scottish Premiership, Jens Berthel Askou’s men arrive unbeaten in 10 league matches and boasting an impressive six consecutive games of clean sheets.

Confidence is high at Fir Park, and with Celtic still searching for consistency under their new boss, the upcoming double-header will offer a clear indication of the Hoops’ progress after a disastrous start under Nancy.
