Max O’Leary says James Morrison has brought clarity to West Brom, a factor that made committing his future an easy call.
As reported by ExpressAndStar.com, the 29-year-old signed a new three-year contract at The Hawthorns on Tuesday.
He helped steer Albion to safety under Morrison, recording eight clean sheets in 16 games during a late 10-match unbeaten run. He said the squad want to push on next season after Morrison was confirmed as permanent boss.
"The boss brought real clarity of what he wanted from us as players last season. Knowing that he was staying on as the permanent boss certainly made my decision easier. I’m really looking forward to working with him again in 2026/27."
Bath-born O’Leary came through Bristol City’s academy, taking loans at Solihull Moors, Kidderminster Harriers and Shrewsbury Town, and joined Albion from Ashton Gate on a six-month deal in January as the Baggies, then under Eric Ramsay, sought improvements in the goalkeeping department.
Albion endured a difficult campaign under Ryan Mason and Ramsay before Morrison’s late uplift, with Josh Griffiths starting as No.1, Joe Wildsmith replacing him in December, and Mason briefly recalling Griffiths before O’Leary arrived.
"I wanted to commit as soon as the club reached out to me. Everyone associated with the Albion was so welcoming when I arrived in January. With the help of the outfield players, we managed to secure plenty of clean sheets, which, as a goalkeeper, is always a big plus."
