Santos right-back Mayke has been omitted from the last three matchday squads for technical reasons, not because of a knee complaint. According to Diario Do Peixe, the discomfort has persisted since he joined last year but has not stopped him playing.

Igor Vinicius is first choice at right-back. The club also rate JP Chermont, on loan at Coritiba, and a clause allows Santos to recall the academy graduate.

He has not played for a month, last appearing on 15 February in the 6-0 win over Velo Clube at Vila Belmiro. He started that Paulistão match while Igor was suspended.

Under contract until the end of 2027, he has only five outings this year. Besides Velo, he featured against Red Bull Bragantino, Guarani and São Paulo in the state championship. In the league, he has played once, against São Paulo at Vila Belmiro.

He joined in July last year and made 12 appearances in the 2025 Brasileirão.

Inside the boardroom, there is an expectation they could negotiate the player. However, he has a good relationship with football executive Alexandre Mattos from their Palmeiras days, and close links with his staff. He turns 34 in November.

Born in Carangola, Minas Gerais, he came through Siderúrgica and broke through at Cruzeiro. He stayed there until 2017 before a loan to Palmeiras, then a permanent move that kept him for eight years.
