Memphis Depay sustained a right anterior thigh strain in Sunday’s draw with Flamengo, his seventh medical issue since joining Corinthians in September 2024. Recovery is estimated at four to six weeks.

Scans on Monday confirmed the injury. The club said in a statement that no official recovery timeframe was provided and that he underwent an MRI. He had been called up by the Netherlands for the March Fifa window but, initially set to begin treatment with the KNWB, has since been withdrawn.

It is the 23rd medical issue of his career since making his professional debut at 17 with PSV Eindhoven. Across his career he has missed 786 days, seven since joining Corinthians. Thigh problems are the most frequent, with 16 occurrences.

On arrival he underwent a preparatory period after more than two months without playing, then after his debut against Atlético-GO left ankle pain prompted preventive tests that found no injury. Later that year he managed left knee discomfort to stay available for key Brasileirão and Sul-Americana matches.

In 2025 he missed early Paulistão with right thigh oedema, then in April an ankle knock and a leg trauma sidelined him briefly. A left ankle sprain in May was followed by two thigh injuries between August and October, costing about 44 days and including the Copa do Brasil quarter-finals, before a November knee sprain and muscular oedema.

In 2026 he underwent muscular rebalancing, and after the Chapecoense draw it emerged he had been playing with knee difficulties.
