Memphis Depay has suffered a strain to the front of his right thigh during Sunday’s draw with Flamengo, his seventh medical setback since joining Corinthians in September 2024. The initial expectation is a recovery of around four to six weeks.
According to Meu Timao, scans on Monday confirmed the injury. The club have not given an official timeframe, and he has been withdrawn from the Netherlands squad for March’s international window, having initially been due to start treatment with the KNWB.
It is the 23rd medical issue of his career since debuting at 17 with PSV Eindhoven. Early at Corinthians he built fitness, underwent precautionary tests on a sore left ankle with no injury found, and had left-knee pain managed late in 2024.
In 2025 he endured a run of problems. A right-thigh oedema and load management kept him out at the start of the Paulistão, then April brought an ankle knock and a separate leg trauma, costing six and five days. In May a left-ankle sprain meant 16 days out, and two thigh injuries between August and October totalled about 44 days, including the Copa do Brasil quarter-finals.
In November he sustained another knee sprain with muscular oedema, missing 16 days ahead of the Copa do Brasil deciders. He then sat out early January 2026 for muscular rebalancing and skipped the Chapecoense trip for load management.
Before Corinthians his longest lay-off was a left ACL rupture with Lyon in December 2019, totalling 200 days, and a calf injury at Atlético de Madrid in 2023 cost 90. Excluding the major setbacks, his average absence has been around 16 days, and thigh injuries are the most recurrent with 16 occurrences.
