Midtjylland strike late to give Forest uphill task | OneFootball

Cho Gue-sung came off the bench to give Midtjylland a one-goal advantage in difficult conditions.

It was a wet and windy night at the City Ground but both sides put on an entertaining encounter.

The visitors should have taken the lead early on after good work from Philip Billing down the right before the former Bournemouth man put in a ball for Júnior Brumado. With the goal gaping, the Brazilian forward somehow managed to aim a header going wide with Murillo on hand to clear.

Vítor Pereira was forced into an early change soon after then Jair Cunha went over on his ankle off the ball with Nikola Milenkovic taking his place.

Despite that early chance from Midtjylland, Forest were by far the most threatening of the two with Omari Hutchinson forcing goalkeeper Elías Ólafsson into a fine stop with an effort from distance.

The rain continued to pour in the second half as Forest came flying out of the traps. Morgan Gibbs-White inadvertently stopped Ola Aina's effort from hitting the target before Nicolás Domínguez fizzed a shot just wide of the post.

Mike Tullberg had brought on Valdemar Byskov at the break and the Danish youth international almost had an instant impact when his shot from the edge of the area bounced off the Forest crossbar.

The home side continued to push for a goal but fell behind in the 80th minute. Ousmane Diao sent in a cross from the right towards substitute Cho Gue-sung who got in ahead of Aina before heading past Matz Sels and into the corner.

That late goal means that the Premier League side will face an uphill struggle in the second leg in Denmark.
