Mikel San José has won a court case against Social Security in the Basque Country.

According to El Correo, the region's High Court has awarded him a lifelong monthly pension of around 1,600 euros gross.

Judges recognised that injuries forced his retirement from football.

San José is a former Athletic midfielder.
