Milan have a logjam in the midfield because of Adrien Rabiot and Luka Modric staying and a new scheme, and Samuele Ricci risks being the odd man out, and, as a matter of fact, his camp is offering him around and already spoke with Juventus and Atalanta, Calciomercato reports.
The former Torino cornerstone joined last summer in a €23M move and is under contract until 2029. Despite that, he’s not untouchable, provided the Rossoneri recoup what they spent. He appeared 31 times, scoring once and providing 4 assists in 2025/2026. He started in just 11 Serie A fixtures, though.
Juventus had been linked to Ricci in January already and proposed a swap with Federico Gatti, while new Atalanta coach Maurizio Sarri is a fan of the Milan outcast and tried to sign him a few times at Lazio.
The Bianconeri are looking for more Italian players. They could come forward later in the summer if they trimmed some fat. Instead, La Dea is in a good spot in the midfield. Ederson indeed signed a long-term contract following Manchester United’s late U-turn. They have already onboarded Gianluca Gaetano and have been testing Nicola Zalewski and Lazar Samardzic as box-to-box.
The reports suggest half of the Rossoneri midfielders are for sale, and obviously, not all will leave. Considering he’s well-rounded but not particularly technical and dynamic or stellar on either end, he could actually be better in a two-man midfield rather than in a more numerous one, where he doesn’t have a clear role. The Old Lady or a foreign team taking a late flier on could be in the cards.
