Minute’s silence before France v Spain semi-final on Nice attack anniversary

A minute’s silence will be held before the World Cup semi-final between France and Spain on Tuesday 14 July, 10 years to the day after the Nice attack that killed 86 people.

Emmanuel Macron announced the tribute on Monday in a post on X, thanking the FIFA president for responding to France’s request and saying the victims would not be forgotten.

Earlier on Monday, Nice mayor Éric Ciotti relayed that French Football Federation president Philippe Diallo had supported the request to FIFA.

The FFF, stressing its duty of remembrance, pressed FIFA so a moment of reflection could take place in tribute to the victims and to keep their memory alive.

Kick-off is at 21:00.
