Croatia collected their first World Cup points by beating Panama 1-0. England and Ghana finished goalless, while Colombia reached the last 16 by edging DR Congo 1-0.

L'Équipe notes it was a quieter night than the previous one, which produced 11 goals. Beyond Portugal's 5-0 over Uzbekistan, the fixtures ended in England's stalemate and narrow wins for Croatia and Colombia.

Elsewhere French coaches are winless, with Rudi Garcia's Belgium drawing Egypt 1-1 and Iran 0-0, Sabri Lamouchi sacked by Tunisia after 1-5 to Sweden and successor Hervé Renard losing 0-4 to Japan, while Sébastien Migné's Haiti fell 0-1 to Scotland and 0-3 to Brazil.
