Mohamed Amoura set for surprise Bundesliga switch | OneFootball

RB Leipzig are on the verge of completing the signing of VfL Wolfsburg striker Mohamed Amoura, according to reports from France and Algeria. The 26-year-old is expected to remain in the Bundesliga despite Wolfsburg's relegation to the second division.

Amoura's agent confirmed that talks with Leipzig are well advanced and expressed confidence that an agreement will soon be reached.

While no transfer fee or contract details have been disclosed, the move appears to be nearing completion. Amoura had also attracted interest from Benfica and Everton, but Leipzig now seem to be leading the race for his signature.

The Algeria international joined Wolfsburg permanently last summer after an initial loan spell and registered eight goals and four assists in 33 competitive appearances during the 2025/26 campaign. He remains under contract until 2029, meaning Leipzig and Wolfsburg still need to agree on a transfer fee.

The potential arrival of Amoura could also have significant implications elsewhere in Leipzig's squad. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Leipzig wanted to secure a replacement before giving the green light to Yan Diomande's proposed move to Real Madrid. Should Amoura's transfer be finalized, it could pave the way for Diomande to complete his long-anticipated switch to the Spanish giants in the coming days - for over €100 million by the way.
