It has been a positive start to the season for Morgan Cross and her teammates, with the Celtic FC Women's team suffering only one bump in the road so far in their first five games of the campaign.

Elena Sadiku’s side have secured four wins and scored 18 goals so far this season, with Cross getting on the scoresheet in all but one of her side’s opening five games, a run of form which earned her the Player of the Month award for August.

Speaking to the media at Celtic Park on Thursday, the forward reflected on that achievement and explained that she puts the current good run of form down to hard work.

“I’m delighted,” Cross said, “and scoring in the first three games of the season helps with confidence and got the team off to a great start.

“Being in more forward positions helps when it comes to scoring. If I’m higher up, I can get in to better positions and get more scoring opportunities.

‘Personally, I’ve been doing the same as always – training hard and hoping that I can play every week.’

“I want to be contributing however I can, and the only game that we’ve not scored in was against Rangers.

“I feel like we have a real attacking threat as a team, and if we can continue that, it would be great.”

After a convincing 4-2 away victory over Aberdeen on Sunday, the Ghirls have a home match against Hibernian thisn Sunday and it promises to be a big test for Elena Sadiku’s side as they look to take all three points against last season’s SWPL winners.

Ahead of this weekend’s game, Cross says that Celtic will only be focused on themselves and she shared her belief that the Hoops have what it to takes to secure another victory this Sunday.

She added: “We respect Hibs. They’re a great side so we know they’re going to be strong and competitive, and so are we.

“We want to play the best we can, we’re looking to confident and play our style of football.

“Hibs have threats all over the pitch, they’re a strong team offensively and defensively. We know their weakness and their strengths, so we have to exploit that and try and limit their opportunities.”
