Murat Yakin in 'close contact' with Granit Xhaka after recent ankle setback | OneFootball

Granit Xhaka is set to feature for Switzerland during this international window, with head coach Murat Yakin saying he is not worried about the Sunderland captain’s fitness after a recent ankle lay-off. Xhaka has returned to start the Black Cats’ last two matches, including Sunday’s 2-1 win at St James’ Park.

Yakin said: "I'm in close contact with Granit. I'm not worried; he knows his body. We'll discuss how long he'll play." The comments were carried by Blick.

Switzerland have friendlies against Germany on Friday, then travel to Norway on Tuesday.

If Xhaka plays in both, his senior caps would rise to 145. He debuted in 2011, has captained for the past eight years and has scored 16 goals.
