Napoli sealed a Champions League place with a 3-0 win at Pisa on Sunday in Serie A’s penultimate round, while Juventus lost 2-0 at home to Fiorentina. L'Équipe notes that Juventus could have to settle for the Europa League or Europa Conference League.
Scott McTominay scored in the 21st minute as Napoli eased past Pisa, already bound for Serie B after one season back in the top flight. Antonio Conte’s side have 73 points and, five clear of fifth with one match left, will finish no lower than fourth.
AC Milan won 2-1 at Genoa, moving ahead on 50 minutes via a Christopher Nkunku penalty. Zachary Athekame made it 2-0 on 81 before Johan Vasquez replied on 86. Milan, after two defeats, are third on 70 points.
Roma also have 70 and were the day’s big winners, keeping alive hopes of a first Champions League since 2018-19. They beat Lazio 2-0 in a fiery derby, Gianluca Mancini scoring on 40 and 60 before Wesley and Nicolò Rovella were sent off on 70.
Defeat in their final home game sent Juventus from third to sixth on 68, behind Como on 68 after a 1-0 win over Parma. Juventus left to whistles and now sit two points off fourth.
Inter, top on 85 and champions for two weeks, host Verona later. They will celebrate a Serie A and Coppa Italia double at San Siro after a match with nothing riding on it, with supporters in Milan’s streets.
