Newcastle United have made an ambitious enquiry about Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, positioning themselves as contenders to sign the Serbian ‘monster’.

The 26-year-old has entered the final weeks of his contract in Turin, sparking a scramble among Europe’s elite as he prepares to become a free agent this summer after failing to agree an extension with Juventus.

Newcastle have reportedly contacted the player’s representatives to gauge the complex financial requirements needed to complete a deal.

With summer arrivals Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa struggling to fill the void left by Alexander Isak’s departure from St James’ Park, Eddie Howe could use a new striker this summer.

Vlahovic would represent an upgrade. With 136 goals in his senior career, the prolific forward has demonstrated his pedigree at the highest level.

He capped off the 2025–26 campaign with a brace against Torino, underlining that his sharp goalscoring instincts remain intact despite a turbulent season off the pitch.

However, completing a deal will test the limits of Newcastle’s finances, particularly after they failed to secure European qualification.

While the absence of a transfer fee is a significant boost to their Profit and Sustainability Regulations (PSR) calculations, Vlahovic’s wages are astronomical. The striker reportedly earns around €400,000 per week, a figure that would shatter Newcastle’s wage structure.

Furthermore, Newcastle face intense competition. Without the lure of Champions League football, the Magpies must persuade the Serbian star to buy into a long-term rebuild at St James’ Park over immediate continental glory.

Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are also in the race for Vlahovic, while Chelsea have been credited with an interest.
