An update from Sky Sports on Newcastle United’s pursuit of Anthony Elanga.
Eddie Howe and NUFC having already seen an offer of £45m rejected by Nottingham Forest.
Sky Sports now reporting that Newcastle United have a free run on the player with no rival clubs competing for the Sweden international and NUFC now close on getting to a transfer fee that will be agreed by Nottingham Forest.
Keith Downie covers Newcastle United for Sky Sports and his understanding is that the deal will get done.
Just a case of United going that little bit further to reach a compromise figure that Forest will accept.
Newcastle United of course especially keen to get this deal done with Joao Pedro having decided to move to Chelsea, rather than Tyneside.
“The positives are [this transfer window], the money is there to spend and Newcastle United are in a lot better position than they have been for the last three windows.
“All the noises after losing out on Joao Pedro, are that they will move to Anthony Elanga.
“I can see Anthony Elanga being perfect for Eddie Howe’s style.
“I feel like that deal will get done.
“Newcastle United aren’t in competition with anyone.
“Newcastle United know they are close in terms of the fee.
