Neymar and Gabriel Barbosa, both absent for Santos, criticised the offside that cancelled a Santos goal in the 0-0 draw at Cruzeiro in the Brasileirão’s eighth round on Sunday. According to Diario Do Peixe, they voiced their complaints on social media.
Neymar was rested for load management, while Gabigol was ineligible due to a loan agreement with Cruzeiro. Neymar said on Twitter the decision should not have stood, and Gabigol shared an image of the lines drawn in favour of the goal.
With the international break, there is an expectation both could return against Remo on Thursday, two April, at 19:00, at Vila Belmiro. Neymar is also hoping for a call-up from Carlo Ancelotti for the World Cup, with the squad due on 18 May.
He continues to work at CT Rei Pelé, which includes a hyperbaric chamber to aid recovery. He is likely to have around seven games to stake his claim, with initial opponents including Remo, Flamengo, Atlético-MG, Fluminense, Bahia, Palmeiras, Red Bull Bragantino and Coritiba.
This year he has played five times after returning from arthroscopic surgery on 22 December. In the Paulistão he came on at half-time in a win over Velo Clube and started a loss to Novorizontino, then in the league he scored twice against Vasco and also started versus Corinthians and Internacional.
Inside Santos there is a care plan with a potential World Cup call-up in mind. Since his return, Gabigol has two assists and seven goals in 12 games.
