Neymar criticised the offside decision that denied Santos a stoppage-time winner at Cruzeiro, the match finished 0-0.

According to Globo.com, the eighth-round game at Mineirão saw VAR, led by Diego Pombo Lopez, cancel Barreal’s 49th-minute strike.

The Argentine won a duel with a Cruzeiro player, drove into the box and scored, before the lines were drawn and offside given. Santos argue another Cruzeiro player near the touchline could have played him on, and question whether that was reviewed.

Neymar, rested for muscle recovery and load management, wrote on X that the offside did not exist, adding laughing emojis. Gabigol, absent for contractual reasons, also mocked the call with a laughing emoji, the word “valeu” and a still of the VAR.

Santos sit outside the relegation zone with 15 points. Neymar is expected to return for the next match.

They are back on 12 April to face Remo in the ninth round at Vila Belmiro.
