Neymar returned for Brazil against Scotland at the 2026 World Cup, his first appearance for the national team in nearly three years. The match took place at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium.

He started on the bench under Carlo Ancelotti for Brazil's third and final group game. Vinicius scored on seven minutes and again in first-half added time, then Matheus Cunha made it 3-0 on 60. Neymar replaced Cunha in the 76th minute to a warm ovation.

According to L'Équipe, he was expected to play around 20 minutes.

The Santos forward, previously with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, missed the matches against Morocco, 1-1, and Haiti, 3-0, after a calf injury sustained before the tournament.

This is his fourth World Cup after 2014, 2018 and 2022. Wednesday's outing was his 14th match in the competition, and he has eight goals, four in 2014, two in 2018 and two in 2022.

He had not featured for Brazil since 18 October 2023 against Uruguay, a 0-2 World Cup qualifier, when he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
