Neymar speaks for first time after Santos’ Paulista quarter-final exit

Neymar has given his first public comment since Santos were knocked out of the Campeonato Paulista, speaking after Sunday’s 2-1 defeat by Novorizontino.

Approached on Tuesday at the entrance to CT Rei Pelé, he appeared subdued. “Sadness, the feeling is sadness, we need to improve,” he said to De Olho no Peixe.

Before heading inside for another session under Juan Pablo Vojvoda, he greeted a handful of supporters outside the training complex.

Santos have Tuesday and Wednesday to work before facing Vasco on Thursday at 19:00 Brasília time, in the fourth round at Vila Belmiro.

The No 10 started in the Novorizontino match and is expected to start again against the Rio club. Santos have one point from three rounds and already sit in the national relegation zone.
