Neymar’s father has celebrated his son’s recall to the Brazil squad for the World Cup in June in the United States. According to Globo.com, he marked the moment after a long recovery from a serious knee injury sustained in 2023.

Neymar returned to Santos in February last year and had not played for Brazil since October 2023. A run of injuries kept him from rejoining the national side until now.

In a message, he said he could have dwelt on the pain and doubts since the Montevideo injury, and on the comments they read and heard in silence during the process. Instead, he called it a happy day, thinking of the joy of children who shout Neymar’s name wherever he has been.

He added that Neymar had long desired and worked for this moment, acknowledging the pain, doubts and silences along the way. He said he will be with his son at another World Cup.

Neymar has not yet commented publicly on his call-up.
