‘No fear’ – Barcelona star speaks on challenge of facing Kylian Mbappé in World Cup semi-finals | OneFootball

Barcelona and Spain star Pau Cubarsí has spoken out on the test which awaits him, in locking horns with the in-form Kylian Mbappé this week.

Spain and France are of course primed to face off in a highly anticipated World Cup showdown on Tuesday evening.

With a place in the competition’s finale on the line, the European heavyweights will do battle for the chance to face either England or Argentina this coming weekend.

The matchup will pit two of the tournament’s standout performers to date against one another, namely the aforementioned Pau Cubarsí, and Kylian Mbappé.

Whilst the latter has lit up North America in the final third en route to eight goals, stopper Cubarsí has been a source of consistent excellence at the other end with Spain.

Speaking during an interview with Diario AS on Monday, the Barcelona man was in turn questioned on going toe-to-toe with Real Madrid’s star goalscorer for the latest time.

And Cubarsí was both confident and respectful in his response, assuring:

“Mbappé? I am not scared. No fear. But everyone knows his qualities. Even if he’s not involved in the match, he can change the game with a quick action. He is unique, like Lamine Yamal. You have to stay alert for 90 minutes.”
