Alexander Nübel’s future is about to reach another turning point. Although the goalkeeper is currently a regular starter at VfB Stuttgart, there are no prospects for him either at Stuttgart or FC Bayern at the end of the season
According to Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg, it looks like the next move in Nübel’s career is on the cards
Although the Swabians value the 27-year-old’s performances, the financial conditions as well as the transfer fee and salary expectations make a permanent transfer practically impossible. Stuttgart simply cannot afford Nübel in the long term, which is why the loan deal will end in the summer
Things don’t look any better for the keeper at FC Bayern either. The goalkeeper roadmap is clearly mapped out in Munich. In Jonas Urbig, those responsible have already signed a goalkeeper who is either to be built up as the new number one or – if Manuel Neuer extends his contract – is at least planned as a permanent number two. There is no room left for Nübel in this scenario. A return to Säbener Straße would push him back into the role of challenger or reserve, which is exactly what the goalkeeper wants to avoid
There are increasing signs that Nübel will continue his career abroad. There are hardly any realistic options within the Bundesliga that fit both athletically and financially. For the former Schalke player, it therefore amounts to a completely new start – with clear number one prospects, but far away from Munich and Stuttgart

It remains to be seen where exactly Nübel will move to in the summer, but one thing is clear: his situation is likely to be one of the most exciting goalkeeper topics in the upcoming transfer window.
