Now that Newcastle United can field an entire team of current internationals I don’t feel quite the same

Corners and free kicks are going to be fun for Newcastle United this season.
With Nick Woltemade, Big Dan Burn, and Sven Botman trundling up the field for a corner, it’s going to be like when the tanks rumbled up into the village square in an old war movie.
Teams should be dishing out little white flags to their defenders.
An afterthought on corners…
I can never understand why players taking corners dedicate so much time and effort to trying to get the ball as close as possible to being outside the corner flag quadrant when the advantage is negligible. You know what I mean, where the official hovers over the ball looking straight down to make sure the edge of the ball is still vertically over part of the white line!
Just for a change, I’d like to see the player do the same thing but with the ball on the other side of the goal line, so it looks like it’s out of play.
Now THAT would mess with the keeper’s head!
Leavers
I’m not the vindictive type, so I’m happy to wish both Wilson and Isak the best with their new clubs.
And of course the same goes to Jamal Lewis, Sean Longstaff, Isaac Hayden, and Martin Dubravka.
Especially Martin Dubravka, who I still think should be our number one choice in the nets.
And while I’m at it, congrats to Elliot Anderson and Dan Burn on their England selection.
International breaks
There was a time not so long ago that I thought that the length of international breaks should be reduced.
If your name is Chelsea, or Man City and you have a squad made up almost entirely of international players, think of the international breaks as an FA handicapping system that gives the rest of us a chance to “catch up” while your players are recovering.
