Birmingham City have announced that they have completed the signing of Werder Bremen striker Marvin Ducksch.
The 31-year-old joins the Championship side for €2m and signs a three-year contract at St.Andrews until 2028. Ducksch will wear number 33.
During his four-year spell at the Weserstadion, Ducksch played 134 times, scoring 54 times and assisting 40. Alongside Niclas Füllkrug, the 31-year-old formed a partnership known as ‘Die hässlichen Vögel’ or the Ugly Ducklings, and the duo helped fire Bremen to promotion back to the Bundesliga in 2022.
On leaving Bremen, Ducksch said:
“I look back on four successful years in Bremen, during which I was able to experience many wonderful moments. Werder was a special chapter in my career, one that I will always look back on fondly. Now I have decided to take on a new challenge, which I am very much looking forward to. I would like to thank my teammates, management, fans, and the club staff who supported me on my journey in Bremen.”
The departure of Ducksch once again shows the direction that Bremen are heading in under Horst Steffen. Bremen are also looking to offload Michael Zetterer this summer as they look to draw a line under the era of Ole Werner at the Weserstadion.
