Official: Schalke send Mika Wallentowitz on loan to Greuther Fürth | OneFootball

As confirmed by both clubs this evening, FC Schalke 04 has officially loaned Mika Wallentowitz to SpVgg Greuther Fürth.

The versatile attacking player will play for the German second division outfit for the duration of the upcoming season. 

With the Royal Blues still confident in the 18-year-old's potential, the deal does not include an option to buy for Fürth.

"Mika can play in various positions and can be deployed both centrally and on the wing," said Fürth's sporting director, Daniel Meyer.

“His overall package of physicality, mentality, and flexibility brings new dimensions to our team going into next season.”

Schalke's Director of Professional Football, Youri Mulder, also explained why the loan will benefit the youngster:

“Mika made great strides in his development last season. As a highly talented youngster, he made it from the youth academy to the first team.

Match experience remains absolutely crucial for a young player. He will have to earn his playing time through his performance."
