Pablo Hernandez has agreed a new contract with CD Castellón until 2029, days after their play-off semi-final defeat to Almería in the 94th minute.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the former Leeds United favourite will continue at Estadio SkyFi Castalia, with assistant Sergi Ripollés also renewing.
Hernandez, pivotal in Leeds' promotion under Marcelo Bielsa, began coaching with Castellón's reserves and led them to promotion. He then stepped up after a poor start under Johan Plat, sparking a promotion push that reshaped the season.
Since his arrival in the senior role, Castellón have registered 20 wins, 10 draws and seven losses, underlining the turnaround and their run to the promotion play-offs.
The Castelló de la Plana native expressed deep pride in leading his hometown club and vowed to give everything to repay a fanbase he considers his own.
Affectionately known in West Yorkshire as El Mago, he drew a two-word tribute from former Elland Road team-mate Luke Ayling on social media, "Magic man".
