Palmeiras held by Remo as leaders endure first two-game winless run of Brasileirão season

Palmeiras have gone two Brasileirão matches without a win for the first time this season after drawing with Remo on Sunday in Belém, tightening the race at the top.
Before that, they were held 1-1 by Santos at Allianz Parque on Saturday 2. According to Nosso Palestra, with 15 league matches played, it is the first time in this edition that Abel Ferreira’s side have gone two in a row without a win.
Both fixtures followed the same script, Palmeiras trailed then levelled. Late winners were ruled out for handball in each match.
Their last victory came on 26 April, against Red Bull Bragantino in round 13, sealed by Flaco López.
Despite the stumble, Palmeiras remain top with 34 points from 15 games. Flamengo are second on 28 with a match in hand. Remo sit 19th with 12.
Next up in the Brasileirão is Cruzeiro on Saturday 16 at Arena Barueri. Before that, attention turns to the Copa do Brasil, with the second leg against Jacuipense on Wednesday 13 at 21:30 in Londrina, after a 3-0 first-leg win at Allianz Parque.
