A FIFA-authorised laboratory has completed tests on Palmeiras’ new synthetic pitch at Allianz Parque, with results due in the coming days. According to Nosso Palestra, the assessment lasted around seven hours as part of the certification process.

The arena, built and operated by Real Arenas in partnership with Palmeiras, now uses seventh-generation synthetic turf, the most modern artificial surface for elite sport and compliant with FIFA’s handbook.

Each season an authorised lab evaluates the Allianz Parque synthetic surface, a process not required on natural grass pitches. Checks cover levelling, shock absorption, ball roll and bounce, traction and rotational resistance.

Work to replace the surface began in December, funded jointly by Palmeiras and WTorre, with a total outlay of R$ 11 million from materials to completion.

Once FIFA issues the Quality Pro certificate, Palmeiras will return to the arena for the remainder of the season, including fixtures in the Campeonato Brasileiro, Copa do Brasil and CONMEBOL Libertadores.
