Palmeiras pull seven clear, Santos back in drop zone after round 17 | OneFootball

Round 16 of the 2026 Brasileirão ended on Monday night as Coritiba beat Bahia 3-1 at Couto Pereira. According to Diario Do Peixe, Santos slipped back into the relegation zone after losing to Grêmio on Saturday, and are 17th with 18 points.

Palmeiras stay top after a 3-0 win over second-placed Flamengo, moving to 38 points, seven clear of the Rio club. Fluminense remain third with 30 after losing 1-0 to Mirassol. Athletico-PR are fourth on 27 after defeating Remo.

In the drop zone, Mirassol sit 18th on 16 with a game in hand against Flamengo. Remo are 19th with 15, and Chapecoense are bottom with nine. The Santa Catarina side sacked head coach Fabio Mathias on Monday.

There were 28 goals in round 17, an average of 2.8 per match.
