Paulo Dybala’s chances of joining Benfica are receding, with Boca Juniors closing in on a deal for next season.
ESPN Argentina reports there is an initial understanding between the Roma forward and the Buenos Aires club, with completion planned after the 2026 World Cup. The agreement is largely in place, with timings shaped by his intention to play at the tournament and defend Argentina’s 2022 title.
The report adds that the remaining details are settled and that he will return to Argentina to represent Boca next season.
Dybala is in the final stages of his Roma contract and has attracted interest from several clubs.
In 2025/26 he has made 23 appearances for Roma, scoring three goals with three assists, and is valued at €5 million. His outings include 18 in Serie A, four in the Europa League and one in the Coppa Italia, totalling 1,309 minutes.
