Barcelona’s dream of winning a treble came to a painful end after a 3-4 loss to Inter Milan in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final at San Siro.

Despite an incredible fightback in the second half, the match finished 6-7 on aggregate in favour of the Italian side.

Hansi Flick’s team went into the game knowing the challenge they faced. After going down by two goals in the first half, Barcelona clawed their way back into the match.

Goals from Eric Garcia, Dani Olmo and Raphinha gave fans hope of a miracle. But Inter Milan equalised in stoppage time through Francesco Acerbi and then won the match in extra time thanks to Davide Frattesi.

Despite the defeat, the players gave it everything and here is how each of them performed.

Wojciech Szczesny – 6/10

The experienced goalkeeper showed great awareness. He read situations well, but could do very little to stop the goals. His overall decision-making was solid, but he was left exposed too many times.

Eric Garcia – 7.5/10

Scored a crucial goal when the team needed it most. Nearly got a second but was denied by a brilliant save from Yann Sommer. Did not have a perfect game defensively, but his goal gave the team life.

Pau Cubarsi – 5.5/10

Gave away a tight penalty with a tackle on Lautaro Martinez. Still, he had a few good moments. The youngster will learn from this experience.

Inigo Martinez – 6/10

Aggressive in the first half and made some key blocks inside the box. He could not stop the goals from coming and was taken off in the second half.

Gerard Martin – 5/10

Struggled to contain Denzel Dumfries and looked nervous in the first half. Picked himself up in the second period and showed great energy after Raphinha’s goal.

Frenkie de Jong – 5.5/10

Was not at his best. The Dutchman had a quiet outing and could not control the game the way he usually does.

Pedri – 8/10

One of Barcelona’s best performers on the night. Controlled the midfield, broke up attacks, and played key passes. Played a big role in building up chances but lacked support at times.

Lamine Yamal – 8/10

Caused plenty of problems for the Inter defence. Almost scored with a brilliant strike that hit the post and forced another great save later. Was very unlucky not to find the net.

Dani Olmo – 6.5/10

Made a costly mistake that led to Inter’s first goal. However, he redeemed himself by scoring Barcelona’s second. Was better in the second half and played with more confidence.

Raphinha – 7.5/10

Had a quiet game for the most part, but came alive at the perfect moment. Scored what looked like the winner with a follow-up shot. Created panic in the Inter defence during the closing stages.

Ferran Torres – 5.5/10

Wasn’t able to make much of an impact. Played with energy but failed to change the course of the match. Did not trouble the Inter defence enough.

Substitutes:

Ronald Araujo – 5/10

Came on for Inigo Martinez but failed to mark Francesco Acerbi, who scored the equaliser in stoppage time.

Fermin Lopez – 5.5/10

Replaced Dani Olmo late in the game. He did play a few good passes, but to no effect.

Robert Lewandowski – 5.5/10

Came on in the 90th minute. Got a golden chance to score, but his header flew over the bar.

Hector Fort – 5/10

Replaced Eric Garcia and, unfortunately, Inter scored shortly after he came on.

Pau Victor – 5.5/10

Came on for Pedri. Tried to get involved but had little time to settle into the game.

Gavi – 5/10

Came on in place of Pau Cubarsi. Played with intensity and tried to push the team forward.
