Leandro Peña Biafore has left River Plate and will continue his career at Ferro Carril Oeste, having been officially unveiled by the club.

According to Radiogol.com, the 22-year-old defender ended his River contract by mutual consent, joined as a free agent and signed until December 2027.

He had not been in Marcelo Gallardo’s plans since his return and was not expected to feature in the 2026 squad.

After a lengthy knee injury lay-off, he returned to the Reserve in October, but it quickly became clear he would not be considered for the first team.

He rejoined River at the start of 2025 following a short spell with Elche Ilicitano, the Spanish club’s affiliate, where further fitness issues limited his continuity.

With a crowded defence and no concrete opportunities, both parties agreed that an exit was the best option, and Ferro moved to secure him.

The centre-back now begins a new chapter in the Ascenso, aiming to earn minutes and relaunch his professional career.
